European Observatory : Housing and urban life

NEW OBSERVATORY : Thursday, September 26, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM – European Observatory on Housing and Urban Life

The European Observatory was launched on February 8, 2024 at the European Parliament. It comprises 5 different themes: Town center management, trade, crafts and markets, Logistics and last-mile delivery, Culture and animation, Housing and urban life, Urban planning and sustainable mobility.

The European Observatory on Housing and Urban Life is co-chaired by Jean-Philippe DUGOIN-CLÉMENT, Mayor of Mennecy and Vice-Chairman of the Ile-de-France Regional Council, and Francisco Javier AYALA ORTEGA, Mayor of Fuenlabrada in Spain.

Housing and urban life are essential for city centers, as they guarantee a vibrant, diverse and sustainable community. They attract residents, stimulate the local economy and support businesses. Quality housing improves quality of life, reduces commuting times and promotes social cohesion. A mix of residential, commercial and recreational spaces creates a dynamic urban environment, encouraging investment and urban revitalization. Furthermore, well-planned urban living supports sustainable development and the efficient use of resources, contributing to the overall health and functionality of the city. It is important to densify our city centers.
