Labeled as an official event within the framework of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union*, these Assizes were held in the highly symbolic framework of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, on 28 and 29 June 2022.
Delegations from all over the European Union, elected French representatives were present to discuss the future of the city centres under the guise of the Vice-President of the Parliament Dita Charanzová.
The interventions focused on rich and varied themes, including the topic of pedestrianization with the testimony of the mayor of Pontevedra and Ljubljana, the climate emergency, and the way cities must reinvent themselves, and succeed in this ecological transition, with the intervention of the German mayor of Aschaffenburg on his ambitious projects or the importance of the place of culture for the identity and attractiveness of a city center.
